What personal data we collect and why we collect it
This privacy policy applies to information we collect on the Site. As described below, we collect information that you voluntarily provide to us and information that is collected automatically.
Information provided voluntarily
On certain areas of the Site, we offer features where users may provide us with their personal information in order to receive updates, obtain more information about programs, participate in a survey, provide feedback, contact us, or otherwise voluntarily submit information to us. In the future, users may be able to create an account on the Site and submit reviews of directory entries. The information we collect in order to provide these features may include your first and last name, email address, and in some cases your school or organization name, and other information that you may choose to provide. For example, when users leave feedback or request help on the Site, we collect the information provided in the applicable form. We also collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to use to detect spam.
Information collected automatically
As part of the standard operation of the Site, we also collect certain “Site Usage Information.” Site Usage Information is non-personal information from you, including but not limited to your browser type, operating system, IP address and the domain name from which you accessed the Site. It may also include information about your browsing behavior, such as the date and time you visit the Site, the areas or pages of the Site that you visit, the amount of time you spend viewing the Site, the number of times you return to the Site and other “click-stream” data. We do not combine this non-personal information with your personal information.
We use this information to: (1) administer the Site, monitor its usage, and diagnose problems with it; (2) remember you when you return to the Site, so that you do not have to re-submit information and preferences; and (3) improve our content and services. In addition, we use software that uses your IP address to determine roughly where you are located so that we can customize the site based on your location.
We use the following tracking technologies to collect Site Usage Information above:
Cookies: A cookie is a small data file that may be sent by a website or application and stored on the hard drive of your computer. A cookie stores information about your browser that allows us to recognize your browser when you return to our site and to remember your preferences. You are free to decline cookies, but by doing so, you may not be able to use certain features on the website or take full advantage of all of our offerings. To learn more about browser cookies, including how to manage or delete them, check the “Help,” “Tools” or similar section of your browser.
Log Files: Log files store information such as a user’s IP address, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks. Like most websites, the Site uses log files to analyze trends, administer the Site, and track users’ movement on the Site.
Pixel tags: A pixel tag (also known as a “clear GIF” or “web beacon”) is a tiny image that can be placed on a website page or in an email. We may use pixel tags to help us measure the effectiveness of our email campaigns, by telling us whether the messages have been received, opened or otherwise acted upon.
We use a third-party service provider to assist us in collecting and understanding Site Usage Information.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
How long we retain your data
Any temporary cookies that are set when you visit the Site are discarded when you close your browser. If the Site offers a log in feature, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If the Site offers a “Remember Me” feature, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you leave feedback or a review, the feedback or review and its metadata are retained indefinitely. We may or may not choose to publish your review at our sole discretion.
For users who create an account on the Site (if that feature is available), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile indefinitely. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
